The Vulkannaya River drains the active craters of Mutnovsky volcano and for 15 years we have been carrying out the hydrogeochemical monitoring of the Vulkannaya River, i.e. carrying out the annual water sampling. The aim of the observations is to select and test the most effective hydrogeochemical method for medium-term forecasts of the Mutnovsky volcano eruptions and reactivations. This method proved to be effective for the forecast of the volcano’s active phases in March 2000, May 2003 and April 2007.
